Founder and President Melissa Perlman graduated from Brown University with a B.A. degree in Expository Writing. After spending time writing and producing for various television and print media outlets in New York City, New England and South Florida, Melissa joined Office Depot’s corporate communications team at the office supply company’s global headquarters. Seven years later, Melissa left the office supply retailer to launch BlueIvy Communications in May of 2011. Since then, BlueIvy Communications has become one of the most respected public relations and communications agencies in the South Florida market.
Melissa has secured thousands of news articles and segments in various national, local and trade media outlets, including the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, USA Today, Associated Press, NBC Today Show, Huffington Post, Fortune Magazine, South Florida Sun-Sentinel, South Florida Business Journal, Miami Herald, Palm Beach Post, Florida Trend, and Boca Raton Observer.
Melissa is President of the Gold Coast Public Relations Council (GCPRC), South Florida’s largest independent group of PR, marketing and communications professionals. She has been recognized twice by PRNews, the premiere magazine in the public relations industry, as one of the Top 15 PR Professionals to watch (nationally). She was celebrated in 2017 by South Florida Business & Wealth Magazine as an Up & Comer in the Public Relations category; Boca Life Magazine as one of the publication’s 2014 40 Under 40; and the South Florida Sun-Sentinel as a professional who contributes significantly to both their organization and community as part of the publication’s inaugural 2012 Top Workplaces Awards.
Melissa resides in Delray Beach, Florida. She has represented Team USA in the Maccabi Games in Israel three times (1997, 2013, 2017) and twice in Europe (2015, 2019). Melissa is currently Chair of all Endurance Sports for Team USA heading to the World Maccabi in 2022. She is also a Board Member of Maccabi USA, a founding member of the Maccabi USA Future Leaders Forum, and sits on the Friends of Brown Track & Field Executive Board. Melissa is a competitive marathon runner with goals of qualifying for the 2024 USA Olympic Trials.
