Melissa Perlman, Founder & President of BlueIvy Communications, Named a South Florida Business Journal 40 Under 40 Honoree

Perlman Founded the South Florida-based Public Relations and Communications Agency 10 Years Ago and Has Since Grown the Company to Team of Eight

Melissa Perlman, founder and president of BlueIvy Communications, a South Florida based Public Relations and Communications agency, was recently named a South Florida Business Journal 2021 40 Under 40 Honoree. Perlman and her fellow honorees were recognized July 30, 2021 during a VIP Reception and Awards Luncheon at the Signature Grand in Davie, Florida.

The 40 Under 40 Awards, announced annually by the South Florida Business Journal, is given to outstanding professionals under the age of 40 whose businesses are based in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties and recognizes  their leadership, success in business and contributions to their communities. Each year, hundreds of nominations are received for the award which spotlights some of the region’s most entrepreneurial and influential young leaders.

Perlman, who is 39 years old, founded BlueIvy Communications in May of 2011. She has since grown the Public Relations and Communications Agency to a team of eight professionals with offices in Delray Beach and West Palm Beach. Prior to forming BlueIvy Communications, Perlman worked in the Corporate Communications Department at Office Depot’s Global Headquarters for seven years. She graduated from Brown University with a B.A. degree in Expository Writing and has worked in several local and national newsrooms.

Perlman has secured thousands of news articles and broadcast segments in national, local and trade media outlets for BlueIvy clients. The current President of the Gold Coast Public Relations Council (GCPRC), South Florida’s largest independent group of PR, marketing and communications professionals, she has been recognized twice by PRNews, the premiere magazine in the public relations industry, as one of the Top 15 PR Professionals to Watch in the U.S. She was also celebrated in 2017 by South Florida Business & Wealth Magazine as an Up & Comer in the Public Relations category; Boca Life Magazine as one of the publication’s 2014 40 Under 40; and the South Florida Sun-Sentinel as a professional who contributes significantly to both their organization and community as part of the publication’s inaugural 2012 Top Workplaces Awards.

Perlman is a Voting Board Member for Maccabi USA (MUSA), a federally-recognized not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization with an extensive history of enriching Jewish lives through athletic, cultural and educational programs. She is also an Executive Member of the Friends of Brown Track & Field organization, which was formed in June 2020 and was instrumental in the reinstating of Brown University’s Men’s Cross Country and Track & Field teams.

Perlman resides in Delray Beach, Florida. She has represented Team USA in the World Maccabiah Games in Israel three times (1997, 2013, 2017) and twice in Europe (Berlin 2015, Budapest 2019). Perlman is currently Endurance Chair for Team USA in the 2022 World Maccabi Games, which will be held next summer in Israel. She will also compete in the Half Marathon while there. Perlman is a marathon runner – boasting a personal best of 2 hours and 49 minutes – and is chasing the Olympic Trials Qualifying Time for Paris 2024!
