The rampant change caused by the coronavirus is striking various aspects of everyone’s lives, and unfortunately, among the many who are suffering are US military families across the nation, and around the world.

PCS Pay It Forward is a real estate company that helps military families who are relocating from one duty station to another, or PSCing (Permanent Change of Station). They offer tools and assistance to families in US military stations in the United States and across the globe, with active duty and veteran ambassadors located throughout the world. However, due to efforts intended to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, the White House Administration issued a Stop Movement order on all PCSing indefinitely. The act, although justified and understandable, has left military families in the middle of the process of moving in jeopardy, and the ensuing financial consequences could be devastating.

PCS Pay It Forward came to BlueIvy Communications wanting to give a voice to these military families. They needed a way to petition the government to create a fund that will support PCSing families during this trying time. Therefore, BlueIvy drafted a letter to the powers that be using real stories from actual members of these families urging the Pentagon to act.

MilitaryTimes.com, the military’s largest and most relied upon resource, immediately picked up the story, citing the letter in their article, “Advocates call on Pentagon to provide more relief funds to military families struggling amid COVID-19 PCS suspension”. Soon after, Rep. Debra A. Haaland, from New Mexico, who serves on the Armed Services Committee in the House of Representatives, reached out to PCS Pay It Forward and together with other members of Congress and their staff, have put forth legislation based upon BlueIvy’s original draft. The official congressional letter was signed by 36 member of Congress and addressed to Secretary of Defense Mark Esper as of April, 2, 2020. Now, that little piece of PR has become the foundation for real change that could help US military families around the world.

And that is the true power of good PR.
